ASA

FDM

ASA (acrylic styrene acrylonitrile) is great for strong, usable parts and exhibits good temperature and impact resistance, similar to ABS. ASA has improved UV stability compared to ABS but less defined feature details versus PLA. ASA is often used for outdoor applications.

Colors

Best Uses

  • Outdoor parts

  • Prototypes

  • End-use parts

  • Parts that require good temperature resistance

Characteristics

  • Ductile fracture at failure

  • Durable and tough

  • Semi-gloss

Strengths

  • Low cost

  • Good temperature resistance of ~100°C

  • UV resistant

  • Impact resistant

Weaknesses

  • Less defined feature detail compared to PLA and PETG

  • Slightly less dimensional accuracy vs PLA and PETG

  • Moderate inter-layer adhesion (layer bonding). Not as good as PLA and PETG
